Scottsdale is an Arizona city located within Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, that is component of the Greater Phoenix Area. Scottsdale was founded in 1894 and was officially incorporated in 1951, with the population of 2,000. The name was derived from the creator Winfield Scott, a former United States Army chaplain.
It was in 1888 that U.S. Army Chaplain Winfield Scott came to the Salt River Valley, was attracted by the promise of the valley and put down an initial deposit of 640 acres for the purpose of starting farming.
